Version 5.9 • A word that carries more than one meaning now shows them all, separated by a raised dot, instead of only the first. 1,425 entries gained a second and third sense. • Meanings throughout the app now match the printed book exactly, and around 240 that had been cut short mid-phrase are written out in full. • Where a verb takes a particular preposition, the dictionary line now says so. • Still offline. About Quran Word/Root: Voice Search

Say any word of the Qur'an out loud — or type it in English letters — and find it, with what it means, how it is built, and the ayah it lives in. Then hear it read back in Arabic. Everything is on your iPhone: no internet, no ads, no tracking. FIND A WORD BY ITS SOUND Press the microphone and say the word the way it is recited. The search does not look for exact letters: it reduces what you said to the sounds it is made of and ranks all 18,993 words of the Qur'an by how near they come. The article ٱل is optional,... The article ٱل is optional, vowel marks never matter, and a near miss still finds the word. Under the best match you also see the words a listener could confuse it with — ح against ه, س against ص. Listening is done by the speech recogniser built into iOS; this app records nothing. HEAR IT SPOKEN Voice search answers in voice: it says what it heard, repeats the word in Arabic, and tells you the similar-sounding words are below. Open any word and it is pronounced. Tap any Arabic word on any screen — a particle, a rigid noun, a form in a root table — and hear it. Tap the ayah example and the whole passage is read. The pronunciation follows the vowel marks exactly, so a verb form is read as the form it is: yansuru, not yansara. It uses the Arabic voice on your iPhone; for the most natural one, download the Enhanced or Premium Arabic voice under Settings › Accessibility › Spoken Content › Voices. TYPE IT AS IT SOUNDS No Arabic keyboard needed. Type hamd, layl, or dhul-qarnain and the word appears. For a word carrying the article, add a dash: al-hamdu, ar-rahman, ash-shams. A built-in letter guide shows how to write each Arabic letter in English, and letters that share a sound share a spelling — s finds both س and ص. EVERY WORD, EXPLAINED Each of the 18,993 distinct words carries: • its meaning as the Qur'an actually uses it, from the word-by-word renderings • all its dictionary senses, not just the first • its grammar in plain words — "perfect verb, Form IV, 3rd person masculine plural" • the particles and pronouns attached to it, each explained • a Qur'anic example with the words around it and their meanings • every place it occurs, with the surrounding words a tap away • the other words built on the same root, one tap from its full tables ALL 86 PARTICLES Every حرف the Qur'an uses, grouped the way the grammarians group them — prepositions, conjunctions, particles of negation, condition, question, emphasis, answer and more — each with all the meanings it can carry, with the pronouns and question words beside them. WORDS THAT SOUND ALIKE 1,216 sets of Qur'anic words that a listener could take for one another: words written with the same letters and read with different vowels, and words written with different letters that make nearly the same sound. THE FULL ROOT TABLES A complete صرف reference: all 941 verb roots of the Qur'an, form by form (I to X), with one table per form — perfect, imperfect, imperative, verbal nouns, participles and the derived nouns, each marked as Qur'anic or dictionary, with all its senses. Every occurrence is shown inside its ayah, and every form can be tapped to hear it. And the 188 rigid nouns — the Qur'an's nouns that come from no verb at all — each with the part of the ayah its meaning came from. HOW IT WAS BUILT Word grammar and roots follow the Quranic Arabic Corpus; renderings follow its translation data; dictionary senses come from Wiktionary, checked against the Qur'an's own renderings; the text is set in the Amiri Quran typeface. Every claim can be checked on the About page. WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO It does not connect to the internet. It shows no advertisements. It collects nothing about you. The only permission it asks for is to hear the word you say. It is the work of one person who wanted to look up the words he heard in recitation — paid once, nothing more to unlock.
